JLNS wins AJLI Community Impact Award!

The Junior League of Napa-Sonoma was proud to be the 2013 Community Impact Award winner for all of the Junior League! The Community Impact Award is given annually by The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc (AJLI).

The purpose of The Junior League Community Impact Award is to recognize League projects that concretely illustrate the Junior League tradition of achieving significant community impact through collaboration.

Of the 291 active Junior Leagues with a total membership of more than 155,000 members, our small but mighty league was selected for this top honor. For more information please see the AJLI announcement here.

Community Outreach
Community Outreach

The Junior League of Napa-Sonoma develops projects after careful consideration and research of an unmet community need that falls within the emphasis on positively impacting the lives of children and families. Each project provides initial and ongoing training to the members as well as high-quality service to its clients. Projects, usually in collaboration with another community group, receive two kinds of League support:

A core of trained, enthusiastic volunteers

Financial assistance through grants & other donations

After working collaboratively with local nonprofit organizations to achieve specific goals and objectives, a League project is then turned over to the community agency or group best suited to maintain it. Over $200,000 has been distributed to projects in Napa & Sonoma counties since our founding as a League.

JLNS is very proud of our signature program, GLOW Girls Leading Our World! GLOW is a girls empowerment program where League members and guest speakers support the young women of Roseland University Prep, and provide an interactive program on a variety of topics including self-esteem, healthy relationships, self-defense, and financial literacy.

The Junior League of Napa-Sonoma responds to short-term requests for assistance from the community that meet our mission and are within our interest areas, but outside the formal project development process. Please contact our VP Community Outreach at community[at]jlns.org for more information.
